# Fincept Terminal

> The private AI research terminal for investment teams. Fincept Terminal Enterprise is a closed-source desktop application running on proprietary data, with multi-agent research, a quant lab, derivatives and macro intelligence, and a private dataroom — for hedge funds, family offices, asset managers and research desks. An open-source edition remains public on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, free for individuals — personal use, learning and academic research.

## Editions

Fincept ships two distinct products. They run on separate backends with separate accounts; an account on one does not sign in to the other.

- **Fincept Terminal Enterprise (the private edition — the primary product).** Closed-source desktop build for Windows, macOS and Linux. 41 modules, private and proprietary datasets, greatly expanded API and AI usage limits, multi-agent research with planning and specialist delegation, Agent Studio and a visual Node Editor for building your own agents, MCP server connectivity, the AI Quant Lab, backtesting, a private dataroom for your own documents, SSO/SAML, audit logs, role-based access, data isolation, an availability SLA and a dedicated account manager. Free to download but requires an Enterprise account with an active subscription — an open-source account will not unlock it. Three seat tiers, billed per user per month: Starter $99, Professional $199, Institutional $299. No annual commitment and no seat minimum.
- **Open Source Edition (AGPL-3.0).** A native C++20 / Qt6 desktop application with an embedded Python 3.11 analytics runtime, public on GitHub. Ships AI agents across trading, economics and geopolitics; 100+ data connectors (FRED, IMF, World Bank, DBnomics, AkShare, Polygon, Kraken and government APIs); the QuantLib suite of 18 modules; multi-asset analytics; real-time trading with 16 broker integrations; a visual node editor with MCP integration; an AI quant lab; and maritime and geopolitical intelligence. Supports bring-your-own LLM including local models via Ollama. Installers for Windows x64, Apple Silicon macOS and Linux (.deb/.rpm/.run), plus Docker and a CMake source build.
  - **Licensing:** AGPL-3.0 — strong copyleft, not permissive and NOT MIT. Free for individuals: personal use, learning and academic research. Modifications must be shared under the same licence if the software is distributed or run as a network service. Fincept no longer sells a standalone commercial or university licence for the open edition; team and business deployments are served by Fincept Terminal Enterprise seats ($99-$299 per user per month).

- API credit packs: one-time purchases, no subscription or auto-renewal, listed on the open-source page. Separate product from a terminal seat.
